The original work was displayed in a senior exhibition, with a definition of vision which stated the sense as a higher form of intellect requiring deeper thought to understand on new levels. My title spoke on the way people can not separate thoughts from what they see in order to understand in depth what else lies beneath a persona. The form is reductive, sanded down to the wood in some places and cut-out to emphasize the hardened gaze that tears through to gain a deeper understanding as life goes on. Similar to various drawings at the time, it was aggressive and allowed physical emotional expression with the use of paint splattering, orbital sanding, and a jig-saw. Divided currently remains at the artists' studio, the plexiglas was hammered out and leaves the wood without support to remain flat.
The title of this painting is pertaining to the apparent life of spoken words, in the sense of African American poetry styles and Journalism. How a relayed message is grown throughout media or specific sources makes a big difference how it is seen and heard, this deviation from the less worldwide abilities of his childhood discoveries of events to modern day you-tube and facebook posts celebrates an expanse of information sharing. the echo is seen centralized with different methods of relaying it in yellow, as the background is a visual blurry cacophony with underdeveloped ideas and information lacking decent sources floating in the perimeters.
Early experimentation with taping off and using exacto-knife to cut away sharp edges. Also continued use of vinyl paint along with acrylic. The title considers the studies of present day society and it's effect rather negative or positive other than documentation. This includes several organic forms with the inclusion of a geometrical industrial element that has a slight though significant presence as well. Donated to East High school 2008 after graduation from University of Memphis.
This is the earliest use of cutting out tapped areas to allow distinctive sharp edge color separations. The intention to pull and push the viewers gaze with a comfortable balance like that of a musical composition. It also comments on the ups and downs that occur in natural human life, possibly unavoidable extremes and favorable challenges that keep things interesting intermix to make chaos in the calm an enthralling visual experience.
